Delhi Township. Downtown Development Authority launch new round of B2B Digital Marketing Program

The Township has made up to $250,000 available to help current Township businesses impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic through digital marketing assistance.

The goal of the Back-to-Business Digital Marketing Program is to assist 100 Township businesses through digital resources. Each business is eligible to receive free digital marketing and assistance, which can be tailored to the individual needs of the business. The digital marketing could be aimed at advertising products, services or employment opportunities. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is for those that have not previously participated in the prior rounds of B2B funding through the DDA.

A portion of the funds, $50,000, will be set aside for female- and minority owned businesses during the first 90 days of the program.

Businesses must be located within Delhi Township and are required to provide a letter of interest to the DDA documenting how they were negatively impacted by COVID-19. Information and details can be found at: https://www.delhitownshipmi.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=181

Delhi Township announces goals for recreation improvements, community

Delhi Township has identified ambitious plans for the remainder of 2021 and 2022 as part of the Township’s annual goal setting process.

Projects include construction and completion of the Hayhoe Trail, kayak rentals at Esker Landing Park, and a focus on hosting community events with community partners. The goals were identified during strategic workshops earlier this year.

As part of the Board’s strategic plans, construction on the long anticipated Hayhoe Trail, which will connect Esker Landing Park to College Road and eventually join with the Hayhoe Riverwalk in Mason, is expected to get underway soon.

The Township, through the Downtown Development Authority, will also seek a kayak vendor to provide rentals at Esker Landing Park.

The Board’s plans also include identifying, organizing, and collaborating on new community events for the entire family to enjoy.

The new Friday night Cruise-In events at the Holt Farmers’ Market, and the facilitation of the Holt Community Arts Council’s Hops & Bops festival that took place on Aug. 21, are recent examples of the types of events the Board would like to see more of.

Delhi Township energy efficiency renovations and upgrades continue to pay off

Delhi Township saved $299,775 in energy and operational costs in the third year of participation in the annual energy guarantee performance partnership with Honeywell. This exceeds the  original savings estimates!

It’s the latest example of the Township’s savings from investing in renovations and upgrades to aging heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC), process equipment, control systems, lighting within Township facilities, and upgrades to LED street lights.

The energy savings have the same environmental impact as:

  • 589 metric tons of carbon dioxide not being produced
  • 128 passenger cars taken off the road
  • 650,918 pounds of coal not being burned
  • 200 tons of waste recycled instead of landfilled
Over the last three years, the Township has saved almost $1 million in energy and operational costs because of these green improvements.

“This is an important step towards achieving our green goals,” said Matt Lincoln, Delhi Township Trustee.  “It’s important that Delhi Township be a leader in energy efficiency and innovation.”

Delhi Township among Lansing area’s fastest-growing communities

According to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Delhi Township continues to be among the Lansing area’s fastest-growing communities. The 2020 census shows the Township’s population increasing by 7.1%. The growth trailed Meridian Township (10.7%), but significantly outpaced Delta Township (2.2%).

"The 2020 census backs up what we have been saying for years: Delhi Township is a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said John Hayhoe, Delhi Township Supervisor.  “It’s only a matter of time before Delhi Township is no longer mid-Michigan’s best kept secret.”
